Done!
On the final day of Me In
TV, the students had to pitch their
programme ideas, along with their promos, to a panel of production executives.
Quite a challenge – but both teams nailed it.
We’ll have the videos up on Monday, but suffice it to say that the transformation we’ve seen in the students throughout the week has been remarkable. Even comparing Thursday morning, when most of them were really very nervous about presenting, to how they performed under the spotlight yesterday, their progress was plain to see.
Bradley was an especially cool customer:
Everyone arrived bright and early to make some last-minute preparations. Powerpoint presentations were adjusted, lines were repeated, and Hiren even put on a tie.
Then we introduced them to the panel – Stephen Flint and Jimmy Humphrey from the Worldwide Entertainment department, and Damien Marchi
from FMX.
There was a coin-toss to decide who would go first – and then the pitches began. Each team presented for around 5 minutes, and played out their promo on the big screen. The panel asked them questions, and rounded off with some feedback on the format idea. And that was it!
Emmanuel filmed the pitches, and we’ll post them up here next week. Once the pitching was over, we brought (almost) everyone involved in the week – both students and tutors – together for some lunch, and played out the pitch videos so that those who weren’t in each pitch could see them.
The tutors from Monday-Thursday were struck by how far the students had come. I think the students were surprised too. And so, exhausted but proud, they ended the week on a high.
I’ll be sharing the pitch videos and covering a few follow-up bits and pieces next week. Josephine and I will be sending a handful of things to the students too: materials (e.g. the
pitch videos and promos), mementos (some of the best photos from the week), and some practical advice (TV production job links, contact details, references, and so on).
For now, though, thanks for following Me In TV this week – over and out.
